Set Up My Computer for Web Press

Obtain the Recommended Web Browser

Firefox® is the recommended browser for editing Web Press sites. You can download the latest version of Firefox® at http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/ or you can contact the Computer Services Help Desk to get a copy.

Allow Popups

Web Press requires that your browser allow popups to occur. Most browsers now block popups unless the user has specifically allowed popups from that site. Do you see an information bar displayed as shown in this picture?

Information Bar Example

If so, you need to enable popups for the Web Press Site. Click the Options button in the information bar and choose Allow popups for webpress.missouristate.edu.

Allow Popups From Information Bar Example

You may have additional popup blockers, such as the Google Toolbar®, which will still block popups. You will need to enable popups in these applications as well.

Enable Clipboard Functions in Firefox®

Firefox® security settings prevent the copy and paste buttons in the editor from functioning, although shortcut keys do work. To enable these buttons you will need to install and configure a Firefox® extension.
  1. Download and Install the AllowClipboard Helper Extension.
  2. Close and reopen Firefox.
  3. From the Tools menu, choose Allow Clipboard Helper to open the Allow Clipboard Helper configuration window.
  4. Enter webpress.missouristate.edu as an allowed site.
  5. Close and reopen Firefox®.
